This event will feature numerous well-known performers from various Asian Canadian communities: Himig Pilipino Choral Ensemble, Chinese classical pianists the Poon Sisters, classical guitarist Andrew Mah, Korean soprano Eun-Hee Song, Japanese dancers of the Emi No Kai dance troupe, the You-In Chorus, the Ottawa Chinese Arts Troupe, Chinese zither artist Cindy Yang, the Thai Dance Troupe of Ottawa, Indonesian Kolintang music ensemble and the Anjali Patil Dance Company.

Film: The Man Who Might Have Been: An Inquiry into the Life and Death of Herbert Norman

Norman, an expert on the history of Japan and Canadian diplomat, was accused of being a Soviet spy by a U.S. Senate sub-committee. Exonerated by Canada, he was haunted by the public allegations and committed suicide in 1957 while Canada’s ambassador to Egypt. This docudrama reconstructs his ordeal. Following the film, Dr. Greg Donaghy, Head of the History Division of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, will comment on the film and on Norman’s life.
