“ Chinese Wallpaper “ is a project that examines the visual culture of identity and memory using sourced personal and historical family images. Each piece depicts personal members of past and present day family members deconstructed into patterns that are reminiscent of the traditional wallpaper found in period Chinese Canadian restaurants, specifically the wallpaper growing up in my family's Chinese restaurant, the Shanghai Restaurant from the 1970's. This project is a means for me to explore identity, memory, history and to investigate my own personal journey as a first generation Chinese Canadian artist. Organized by Mr. Don Kwan, the artist.
