Program 1. Diu-Diu-Dang-Ah Äõ¶§»R¦± (Northern Taiwanese Folk Tune/arr. Joe Lee) A well-known Taiwanese song from I-lan (©yÄõ), a city in northeastern Taiwan. In the song, a train is travelling through a tunnel. "Diu Diu Dang" describes the sound of raindrops falling on the train. 2. Raining on the Sky ¤Ñ¤½¸¨¤ô (Taiwanese Hakka Mountain Song/arr. Joe Lee) The Hakka Chinese immigrated to Taiwan from China, settling in the mountains. This song is the best-known of the Hakka mountain songs ¡X the most representative genre of Hakka music ¡X and evokes peaceful village life. 3. Lullaby ·nÀ¦¥Jºq (Chuan-Sheng Lu /arr. Joe Lee) Chuan-Sheng Lu (1916¡V2008) was one of the most influential Taiwanese composers. Composed in 1945, ¡§Lullaby¡¨ expresses his longing for his wife and baby son, whom he had sent away to safety when the Allies were bombarding Taiwan. Photo: Monica Wu
