Demonstration by Yumiko Tsunakawa Theme: Beauty of Simplicity
Ikebana originated 500 years ago. Now its simplicity and beauty are well recognized, enjoyed and practiced by many fans all over the world. Ikebana can be created for any space and occasion including homes, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. It makes a place very special with its elegant, relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere.
During the demonstration, Yumiko will show different types of Ikebana including traditional, contemporary and abstract ones suitable for different occasions after the short presentation of history of Ikebana.
Yumiko has been creating Ikebana for over 23 years at demonstrations, exhibitions and installations for private and public spaces including fund raising banquets headed by Mrs. Sheila Martin and Mrs. Laureen Harper. Yumiko also has been doing demonstrations at public spaces including Auditorium in National Gallery of Canada, Rideau Club, Library and Archive of Canada, Ottawa Main Public Library. Yumiko teaches over 160 classes per year and many workshops at her Sakura (Cherry Blossom) studio.
